Bicentennial Park in Southlake, Texas

Bicentennial Park in Southlake, Texas, is a park located in the city of Southlake, Texas, and was established in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the state’s independence from Mexico. It is a popular destination for local residents to enjoy its 6.5 acres of natural open space, picturesque lake, and activities such as fishing and bird-watching. Visit this link for more information.

Bicentennial Park was established in 1821 in order to celebrate Texas’ bicentennial year of independence. The park was initially established as a historical site, and it was the site of the first Southlake town meeting, held in 1873. It was also home to Fort Swift, a military fort that was built during the Texas Revolution. As time passed, it began to serve a recreational purpose, and in the 1950s, it became a designated archaeological site due to the numerous historical artifacts that had been discovered there. Today, Bicentennial Park, Southlake’s largest park, is a cherished community gathering place. It is owned by the City of Southlake and provides visitors with a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. Visitors to the park are able to fish in its lake, bird-watch, and enjoy its 6.5 acres of open space, which includes a large grass meadow, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a pavilion. There is also a hiking trail that goes through the park and is great for running cycling, and horseback riding.
